maddieI am open to any college. I would love to go to a western college, not necessarily on the coast, but just out west. I also love the east so it doesn't really matter where I go. Texas maybe?

I am hoping to travel abroad in college. I'm not sure where I want to go yet. I would love to go to Spain, but I'm keeping an open mind:).
There are a few things I have thought about, but I am open to any and all suggestions!
*Orientation and Mobility Instructor
*Vet
*Animal research and technology
*Psychiatry
*A social worker for abused kids
*Genetic Research
*Zoology or Marine Biology

I love science classes in school. I love being with animals and helping people outside of school.

baseball... something that would enrich your seasonpossibly Shaun Carrigan with the other bball players
Hello everyone. I received an email from Judy regarding the possibility of your interest in having Shaun in the near future speaking about broadcast television and sports graphics to teachers and students of the district. I thought about this while having Tuesday lunch with the Superintendant at Rotary. He wanted me to follow thru with the idea. Because of time constraints in December while Shaun was here we could not get together.

Shaun our youngest works for Sportvision, a specialty graphics firm in television. You know them from the first and 10 yellow marker in football and the blue hockey puck. They were the creators of the yellow line. You may also know them as " pitch effects " as seen in major league baseball. This is the white box over home plate showing the sequence of each pitch and location..Shaun is the coordinating producer to Major League Baseball.

I am not familiar with the district program or capabilities. My thought was to have Shaun address students about television production, his experiences and education needed to get started. Shaun attended Ohlone Colloege in Fremont , California. They have the number one rated TV production facility in the state. He finished his media credits at Chico State. Shaun worked as an apprentice at a number of stations in the SF Bay Area.

He has worked on a number of national sports broadcasts including Sunday and Monday night football, US Tennis Open, College World Series. He has received four Technical Emmys( 2 for the Olympics games in Bejjing). He edited the web site video for NBC Sports. In the month of August 2009, web hits exceeded 1.2 Billion, .......yes Billion.

Please call or email me on your ideas on how Shaun can help the district. He leaves for the Winter Olympic Games Sunday.

kelseyi am not for sure where i want to go. i think i want to to go to university of Arizona, or Texas tech. i would love to go to a school in that area. i also love the university of South Carolina. Gamecocks!
i have no idea what i want to be but i was thinking maybe a sociology major, or a nurse, i really dont know. i just know i want to work with people!

laura'm not really sure where i'd like to go yet, but if i stayed in state, probably CU Boulder or Mines. I also really like the East Coast so i'd love to go to school out there.I know that i would like to work in a hospital. I'm leaning towards psychiatric medicine. If i didn't go into medicine, i'd probably either go into education (i've wanted to be a teacher since, like, pre-school) or some sort of science. I would like to study music as well.

courtneyI don't know where I want to go to school, maybe the college of William and Mary (Virginia) but I don't know. I guess it all depends on what I want to end up studying. I am undecided.I want to go into writing, financing or forensic science.csap vt. create a "csap course" - so make a thatquiz to take after a kid goes through vt.

also Courtney - Rahul suggest the lectures at Academic Earth on finance;
There is a whole host of them - I am sure you have used the search function - it will also give you some audio books on economics and finance. (Courtney wanted to do finance right?) Then there are a few on physics of music (harmonics and stuff). Probably you might want to buy a ipod/iphone to TV connecter and show to class in case.-

excellent at algebra, remember most of my algebra and trig. virtually none of my calculus

I've been a web developer since the early days of the web and work with database-driven web applications, along with creating and producing my own audio and video online
i've studied how the mind works for a long time and love helping people sort out what's preventing them from making things happen in their lives; writing, both non-fiction and fiction, is a way I play around with sychsurgeryJp

Shannon reminds me of me at that age; the innate assumption that the human mind is logical. I was also struck by her statement that since she wanted to do something in the medical field that really mattered, clinical psychology made sense - se seems to believe that helping people sort what's in their heads is the best way to help them, and I agree completely.
I also like that she had to have music in her video, and had connected her perfectionism with her procrastination

I'm an engineer at the Boeing Company and lately I've been involved with community building and process or productivity improvement methods. The method I'm most familiar with is the Theory of Constraints. I'm also a big Seth Godin fan and like to make things happen. I have 4 kids and like to play.

I'm not a pilot, but since I work at Boeing, I could offer some connections for Adam.

I loved Molly's and Gus's videos -- amazing by the way, and I work with large media companies every day and the creative work in both is brilliant!! I have not watched all the videos yet. My background is diverse: I am a Sri Lankan that spent his youth in the UK (25+ years) and the last 12 years in the US; I still consider myself a Brit. I have travelled broadly and I am married with 7 month old twins.

rap songs for science - earth day -

Hi Steve and Monika:
I would first like to thank the two of you for showing an interest in all of our hard work.
First of all, I recently received a review from a colleague of mine at another school. He tested two songs on his students and there was much positive feedback. Also, a teacher in the Ottawa-Carleton Board requested to use the EcoPanik song for their upcoming Earth Day celebrations. She said that she has a 'rough' group of city students who have responded very well to the song and were curious about other works.
I am the writer and my partner, Shawn McDaid, is the rap artist. The music that he and I have created is one off. I have recorded a couple of beats with him in his studio and I am simply amazed by his creativity. I am confident that we have a bright future ahead of us.
Shawn informed me just today that the master will be ready possibly tomorrow. That means that we could have a cd by next week!
At this point, I don't think that we will be changing any of the content or beats. So a review by your students would be based on a final product. I have used most of the songs in my class. For example, 'WaterCycle' walks that kids through how water travels in an endless cycle. I had them listen to the song three times. Once without the lyrics, again with the lyrics and the third time with the lyrics and a fill in the blanks diagram of the water cycle. I then tested the students on the WaterCycle and most of my 50-59 percent students achieved 70% and above. Most others were perfect. Start to finish, this process took less than 25 minutes. The whole water cycle, memorized and more importantly understood in less than 25 minutes!
I would like your students to try it out. Get feedback from them. See if they could rap along with the music. Maybe make a video to one of the songs. Testimonials...whatever.
Steve, Shawn and I are meeting next week to discuss a possible partnership and what that would look like. I have the lyrics completed for a second cd inclusive of content dealing with Ecosystems, Heat, Structures, and Pure Substances and Mixtures. I also have the lyrics six songs on a Canadian History cd complete.
I feel that this method of learning is highly beneficial and incredibly engaging. Students need to want to learn and this makes it exciting for them. Give it a shot!
Sincerely,
Ed Piva

fair enough...
so i guess in order to make it something schools would want... it would have to be remarkable... yes?
and to be remarkable in school.... kids would have to love it... and their loving it would drive them to a sustaining usage, which would produce higher (boxed content) test scores..

everyone is crazy about money shortage. thinking that to do anything - we have to find more money.
but we really believe that if we spent money differently.. ie; not on textbooks, but rather on netbooks, phones, flipvideos, access to cool rap songs... there really is no shortage.

we are just now submitting this to our district... notice in particular #4.
http://docs.google.com/View?id=dd49zvr8_49cqgtfzff
we don't think things can change - unless our public is educated about the potential of changing things up.

so - i'm saying - advertise what your product will bring - to the public, the parents, the community, so that they drive the school board, who drives the super, who drives the principals, who drive the teachers.... in a new direction.

hope that helps... let us know if we can help test it or promote it or whatever...
